Watford, Borehamwood and in fact all Tesco stores are making major changes this week. In order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, CEO Dave Lewis announced in an email to customers that the supermarket is adapting to the current situation.

The changes include removing restrictions on products and increasing the protection for checkout staff. With stock levels starting to return to normal, purchasing limits are being removed on the majority of its products.

From today, limits will only remain on essential items such as toilet rolls, pasta and hand sanitisers. This said, the retailer is introducing a one-way aisle and a 'one-in, one-out' system. Balancing out the queues, however, are the longer opening hours that have been introduced. Tesco is advising customers to ask their local stores for the quietest times to visit, to avoid large waits at the tills.

Protective screens, an increase from £30 to £45 per shop on contactless payments and a greater amount of delivery slots have also been brought in. With more checkouts open too, Tesco is hoping that shoppers can go about their day in a safer and more productive way.
